![]() ![]() I know that sometimes villains are portrayed a certain way to make it easier to hate them. After a brief catch up with Lucifer and friends we get into what I think is wannabe Saber's first real character arc, fighting against the obnoxious disco diva lady. And if I had a quarter for every time I've seen a Japanese video game series portray King Arthur as a blonde woman I would have 2 quarters, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice. Her first story isn't that interesting, and serves mostly as an introduction to her character. Next we meet the Saber Class Heroic Spirit herself, King Arthur Pendragon of Camelot. Like I say it felt really out of place and kind of ruined the pacing of an otherwise competent arc, because it completely derailed the story for an episode and wasn't about anything in particular. For this one episode the animation suddenly looks way worse, like it was done cheaply in MikuMikuDance or something. There was one bizarre and seemingly out of place episode in the middle of the first arc that introduced a minor character who wouldn't come back until way later. It wasn't the most exciting thing in the world, but there were definitely worse arcs to come. While theologically I can't give it any points for accuracy, I did think it was an interesting section, telling a pretty grounded and human story about corruption within positions of power and betrayal from the people who are closest to you. It's all very loosely based on Christian folklore, the kind you won't find in the Bible but might find in something like Dante's Inferno or a ![]() We're first introduced to Lucifer and a whole host of other angel type beings. I'll talk about each of the arcs separately and what I liked and what I think didn't work very well. Monster Strike is honestly one of the most underrated animes out there for sure if you ask me.A sort of continuation of the Monster Strike series of animation shorts found on their official YouTube channel, this series is broken up into several arcs loosely connected by shorts featuring Oragon and a mysterious girl version Oragon that all build toward a single conclusive chapter. Start from the very beginning of the series though, it'll have a bigger impact. Also the fact this movie is basically the perfect conclusion to Lucifer's side of the overall story.Īlso, if you're reading this and wondering: "should I watch this?", yes, absolutely do so. preferrably in Ren's timeline though, since his last season ended on a cliffhanger lol (kinda). Hopefully this isn't the end of the Monster Strike anime series, would really love to see more. Overall, definitely worth the wait imo <3 play hero, and definitely wasn't expecting Pandora to make friend with. Was not expecting Caesar of all people to Also a good couple of plot twists I wasn't expecting here. Like, probably the most perfect the ending coulda been imo. Genuinely enjoyable stuff though, and ended on a good note. Was honestly not expecting the story to get this dark, Jesus Christ. Also forgot how amazing these characters were. Some of, if not the best CG I've seen in anime tbh. REALLY freaking good!īeen a while since the last season of Monster Strike, and I genuinely forgot how good this animation style is. Definitely one of the weaker points of the whole movie. The movie also revolved around the theme of trusting in your friends, but such a theme was shoved right into the viewers face with no amount of subtlety at all. ![]() Events seemed to happen just out of nowhere with little to no true development. ![]() The plot is a cliche as well as a wide stretch, and had an unnatural flow throughout. Now, there are quite a few problems, namely the plot. They were also a variety in the fights, meaning that most of the scenes would combine hand-to-hand fights, projectiles, and magic to make it much more interesting to watch. The fight scenes in particular were all animated beautifully it was all shown quite clearly. definitely a style that might not suit everyone, but the way the characters move kind of slowly adds to the unnatural feeling that makes them even more otherworldly and mystical. Arthur's characterization, especially, was a highlight, even more so in the second half of the film.Īnimation-wise, the CGI was done masterfully. I won't get into much as it would spoil the movie, but none of the characters felt out of character and the story was able to revolve around their individual personalities and beliefs quite well. This movie depicts everyone's characters quite well. I do believe it is a guilty pleasure as there are some faults, but I definitely recommend it to anyone who's been a fan of the Lucifer in the past series. A great conclusion to the story following Lucifer in this universe. ![]()
